Respondent io Review 2022: Is It A Legit Website?

You can get paid by Respondent io to take part in research studies. Compared to most online survey apps and websites, their structure is very distinctive. Individual consumer research studies and focus groups are facilitated by the Respondent both in-person and online.

Unlike most online survey companies, Respondent actually pays “real” money for participating in studies.

You will learn all the information you require from this Respondent review, allowing you to make an informed decision regarding whether or not to join.

What Is Respondent?

As was already mentioned, Respondent is a type of crowdsourcing website that pays you for taking part in research projects.

If you’ve never heard of crowdsourcing, it’s basically a way to get work done by asking a large group of people to contribute, usually online.

In the case of the Respondent, the partner companies may approach the Respondent’s members to take part in studies.

Respondent is legit. The business has paid respondents more than $2 million and counts many Fortune 500 companies among its clients.

How Does Respondent io Work?

Make a free Respondent account right away if you think getting paid for your opinion would be fun.

Since the site seems to have more of a business/professional focus, I created an account using my LinkedIn.

After providing some personal information, you’ll see a variety of surveys tailored to your background. Setting up your account only requires a few minutes, after which you can begin making money. Let’s investigate the procedure more thoroughly.

Respondent io

Pros And Cons Of Respondent io

Pros:

  • Payment via PayPal is available
  • Pays quite well for each project completed
  • Available globally
  • More interesting work than most survey sites
  • Lots of positive user reviews

Cons:

  • You’re unlikely to be selected for most studies
  • It does not guarantee you will be able to earn on a regular basis since you will have to apply for every project you want to participate in
  • Relatively high payment processing fee
  • Buggy Interface

How To Get Paid From Respondent io?

Respondent only accepts payment through PayPal as a method of exchange. Make sure you have a PayPal account, then, before registering.

You will be required to enter the email address associated with your PayPal account during the registration process. Your PayPal account and Respondent will automatically be connected as a result.

Everything will be paid for automatically. The payment will be deposited into your PayPal account once the business has sent it. However, don’t expect to receive the full amount because there will be a processing fee for every payment done.

Whichever is higher, 5% or $1, is the processing fee. Therefore, if a project pays $150 upon completion, you should only anticipate receiving $142.50 in your PayPal account.

5% is a fairly high fee compared to other online research sites, in my experience. It can still be worthwhile if you qualify, though, because the rewards you receive for each project are typically also fairly high.

They have a good payment system in that it will happen automatically and you won’t need to reach a certain amount to get paid via PayPal.

PayPal, is the most convenient payment method available today, in my opinion, and if you are interested in more sites that pay via PayPal, I recommend you also check out the top survey sites that pay via PayPal.

Furthermore, I have firsthand knowledge of the fact that Respondent actually pays because I have received payment from it. But you must do it with the proper expectations, which we will cover next.

Can You Earn A Lot Of Money From Respondent io?

The amount of money you can make using crowdsourcing platforms like Respondent largely depends on how many projects you can complete and how well the company pays.

Make sure to finish your profile before beginning as many projects as you can.

You will see a profile checklist upon the first login. The steps you must take to begin participating in projects are outlined in this guide.

Additionally, keep in mind that you are limited to three project applications per day. In order to avoid wasting your chances, choose the projects you apply for carefully.

I advise you to only apply for jobs that you believe you will have the best chance of getting accepted to. In this manner, your chances of being accepted will be higher.

Respondent.io pays you quite well in terms of how much they pay their employees. For tasks that are more challenging or time-consuming, anticipate receiving more compensation.

Overall, I would say that the respondent does have good earning potential—as long as you meet the requirements for the projects, of course.

And that’s one thing you should keep in mind: the projects can be difficult to qualify for, and depending on your profile, it might take months before you find one that will allow you to make money.

Can You Use Respondent io On Mobile?

You can’t really say that using Respondent on a mobile device is the best course of action with a site like that.

This is primarily due to the fact that the majority of the projects offered to require you to use a computer and other connected peripherals.

Having said that, you can still use your mobile device to access their website.

To visit their website, all you need to do is launch a mobile web browser. The good news is that you can easily navigate through their website because it is mobile-friendly.

This trait can be helpful, especially if you need to quickly find out how projects you’ve applied for or completed are progressing.

Who Can Join Respondent?

Anyone who is at least 18 years old may register as a Respondent. The site is open to participants from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom in addition to the majority of studies, which focus on US citizens.

In order to be paid, you’ll also require a PayPal account.).

To prove your identity, you might find it useful to have a Facebook or LinkedIn profile. Connected users are more likely to be chosen for studies that pay participants.

Best Practices For Earning Money On Respondent

You should adhere to these best practices to make the most of your time and earnings with Respondent.

1. Set A Calendar Reminder

In order to check for new studies, set a reminder to log in every week. Unlike other survey sites, Respondent doesn’t proactively message you to let you know about new opportunities.

Alternatively, they don’t send them very frequently. So far this year, I’ve received two emails with my “personalized research studies.”

2. Decide Quickly

Fill out the screener survey right away if you see a project you like. Remote studies, as you might expect, fill up more quickly than in-person ones.

Respondent also shows you which studies are “oversubscribed,” meaning they have more participants than they need. Don’t waste your time applying for those.

3. Verify Your Work Email

Since many Respondent projects target industry professionals, you can give your profile a leg up by verifying your work email. This demonstrates to researchers that you are engaged with both your business and the sector they are interested in.

4. Link Your Social Accounts

Connecting your social profiles is another way to improve the appeal of your Respondent profile to researchers. They currently allow you to connect:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Github
  • Slack

This is a simple way to confirm with researchers that you are who you claim to be and to allow them to look up some of your online activity.

5. Be Honest

Answer questions truthfully when completing the screener survey.

You might be excluded from some projects as a result, but the objective is to make the most of your time by only taking the surveys that are the best fit for you. This benefits both you and the businesses looking for feedback.

6. Record A Personal Welcome Video

Participants can now record a video introducing themselves, which is a new feature added by Respondent. You have the opportunity to give your online profile a voice and a face in this quick, 60-second video.

Respondent suggests sharing:

  • Your name and location
  • Where do you currently work and some of your everyday responsibilities
  • Any skills you’ve mastered

Don’t worry if you’re camera-shy. This is entirely up to you. (I still haven’t recorded mine.)

But even just a few of those things will make you stand out from the competition and, ideally, get you chosen.

Respondent.io Alternatives

Don’t worry if you dislike Respondent or are having trouble getting jobs.

Even though Respondent is one of the best survey sites for earning money, there are other opportunities to do so.

1. Focusgroup.com

FocusGroup.com is run by Schlesinger, an established research organization. They offer nationwide paid research opportunities that pay between $75 and $200 and are scheduled over the phone or webcam.

For more information on ways to make money online, read my complete guide to online focus groups.

2. User Interviews

User Interviews is perhaps the most similar service to I located a respondent. The business specializes in conducting one-on-one interviews for market research, most frequently over the phone or online.

The typical hourly wage is around $100. I’ve earned $105 for about an hour and a half worth of “work” so far.

To learn more, read my User Interviews review in its entirety.

3. Rare Patient Voice

A leading source for medical research, Rare Patient Voice pays participants $100 an hour. You can browse the entire list of available studies on their website. The majority of the studies involve phone or webcam interviews.

I believe this one is worthwhile to look into if you have any kind of medical condition—even if it’s not terribly uncommon.

4. Fieldwork

Fieldwork is a company that runs (mostly) in-person focus groups. I participated in one of their studies in San Francisco, where I was paid $150 for a 2-hour focus group as well as a $50 early arrival bonus.

They are spread out across the US.

Focus group sessions with Fieldwork typically last 1-2 hours, with compensation starting at $75.

Is Respondent io Worth It?

Yes, so long as you have the right expectations.

You shouldn’t anticipate Respondent to give you a steady or reliable income because it won’t make you wealthy.

However, it is possible to make some good side income if you use it wisely.

As previously mentioned, one member of our group made $104.50 after spending just over an hour on the website, whereas a Reddit commenter claims to have made $5,000 on Respondent over the course of a year.

Our Verdict

In my opinion, Respondent is a respectable site for making a little extra money because they pay well and make it easy for you to get paid.

Don’t expect your earnings from this site to be able to completely replace those from a full-time job, though.
